Repairs
Fault finding and repairs
Electrical faults are rarely where they first appear. We trace them methodically, explain what we've found, and put them right — whether it's a single dead socket or a circuit that keeps tripping.

Common faults
- An RCD or circuit breaker that trips, either straight away or now and again.
- Sockets, lights or whole circuits that have stopped working.
- Lights that flicker or dim.
- Sockets or switches that feel warm, buzz or show scorch marks.
- Faults that appear after building work, damp or a leak.
How we find them
Tripping is often caused by a single faulty appliance, a damaged cable or moisture somewhere in a circuit. We start by talking through what's been happening, then test circuits and equipment one step at a time until the cause is found. Many faults can be found and put right in a single visit; where a larger repair is needed, we explain the options and quote before going further.
Persistent or unexplained faults can point to wider problems with an installation. If we think a fuller check would be sensible, we'll say so — and if it isn't needed, we'll tell you that too.
If something seems unsafe
If you can smell burning, see sparking or scorch marks, or a socket or switch is hot, switch off the affected circuit at the consumer unit if it's safe to do so, stop using it, and call an electrician. If there's any sign of fire, leave the property and call 999.
For faults that need attention quickly, please phone rather than using the enquiry form, so we can talk it through with you.
