A typical domestic EICR takes 2–4 hours depending on the size and age of the property. For a flat or small house it's usually around 2 hours; larger or older properties with more circuits take longer. We'll always let you know what to expect before we start.
Yes. Since July 2020 all private landlords in England must have a valid EICR carried out every 5 years and provide a copy to tenants. Failure to comply can result in fines of up to £30,000. We work with landlords across the UK to keep their properties compliant.
We aim to get certificates issued as quickly as possible after the work is completed. For EICR inspections and PAT testing the report is typically ready within a few days. For rewires and consumer unit upgrades the Electrical Installation Certificate is issued on completion of the job.
Old-style boards with rewirable fuses or plastic MCBs without RCD protection don't meet current regulations (BS 7671) and may affect your home insurance or mortgage. A modern consumer unit with RCBO protection is safer and means a single tripped circuit won't take out the rest of your house. We can inspect your board and give honest advice — no hard sell.
